Hi, I’m Michael Webb. I’m the founder and CEO of PreferredVendor, Inc., an online recruiting tool that connects hiring companies and staffing agencies. PreferredVendor, Inc. is my baby. And, this is the blog about my baby and, more importantly, why it exists.
More than ten years ago I sat in an office in California going through the usual corporate recruiting run-around (“So, you really need that receptionist to come from an Ivy League, huh?”) and decided that there had to be a better way. Hiring companies are skeptical of what they are getting from outside recruiters. Outside recruiters get sick of cold-calling hiring companies begging for access to jobs.
What if there were someplace that recruiters could go to gain access to all of the jobs that hiring companies wanted recruiters to fill? What if we could get the hiring companies to trust that recruiters really do have their best interests in mind? What if I could install a mini-fridge under my desk so I could have a cold beer to celebrate each time I filled a position?
PreferredVendor, Inc was born. I’ll get into the intricacies of exactly how in a later post. Over the years, we’ve listened to hundreds of corporate recruiters and staffing professionals explain what they need, what makes them angry, and what it takes for them to succeed. PreferredVendor.com is the tool solves the biggest pain points. This blog aims to share this knowledge so that hiring companies and recruiters can finally get on the same page.
I’m going to share recruiting battle stories, tips for successful staffing agency relationships, vendor management tricks, anecdotes about insanity from both sides, and everything else that I and my colleagues have learned. PreferredVendor’s social media manager, Brian Meeks, will share tips from industry insiders and other interesting tidbits along the way. I welcome you to contribute your own thoughts as you wish. We’re all here to hire good candidates. Let’s have a cold beer together and get started.
